Chapter 794. Location
Chapter 794. Location
Kailen vanished from his location and reappeared before the floating space principle fragment on the body of the dead chaotic beast. With his principle of space activated, he made a connection to the space principle fragment.
The space principle fragment whispered the profundities of the principle of space to Kailen. Kailen started comprehending the profundities of the principle of space in the principle fragment.
As time went on, the principle fragment grew a bit ethereal. Kailen was in shock. The level of attainment in principle comprehension he was gaining was quite deep. Although he had an abnormal principle comprehension speed even among those of high principle comprehension speed, he knew this outcome was not just because of that. It had a lot to do with the principle fragment. "As expected of a principle fragment from a natural secret realm," Kailen thought.
With his eyes closed, Kailen kept comprehending the profundities of space in the principle fragment. The space principle fragment kept growing ethereal as time went on. Eventually, the space principle fragment weathered away.
Kailen opened his eyes as a profound glint flashed within them.
"As expected. Breakthroughs at the transcendent level are not easy to occur. I’m still at the rank 3 novice stage transcendent level. Good news is I’m very close to breaking through to the rank 4 novice stage transcendent level," Kailen thought. "I should hunt more rank 3 novice stage chaotic beasts in the vicinity for principle fragments. The lady from earlier said something about there being a lot of them around. Although she was trying to use me and kill me, she was at least not lying about that."
Just when Kailen was in thought, a glint flashed through his eyes and he disappeared from where he previously was to a nearby mountain. His gaze flashed towards his previous location.
Several people had gathered in the vicinity. They cast wary gazes across the place. Eventually, their eyes settled on the floating corpse of the creature Kailen had killed.
"Boss," one of them, a human, said, "who do you think did this?"
"I don’t think a single person did this," the supposed leader of the group, a vampire with bunny ears, a hybrid of the vampire and demihuman race, said. "This creature was definitely very strong. Perhaps a group may have banded together to kill it."
Another from the machine race asked, "What happened to the principle fragment then? Did one of them kill the other for it or something?"
"In a natural secret realm, something like this is a daily occurrence," the hybrid vampire said. "I don’t think this should be shocking."
Everyone nodded. Even with this person they were calling boss at the moment, they all knew that if he was not exceedingly stronger than them, and could use power to subdue them, make use of their abilities to hunt creatures for principle fragments in the secret realm, offer them some protection, and deal with threats they could not handle, they would have already killed him for the principle fragments he monopolized for himself.
However, he was too powerful for them to do anything to him. Also, he allowed them to monopolize some principle fragments. Thanks to him, they were all stronger than they were when they entered this natural secret realm. This was why they were calling him boss.
The hybrid also understood this perfectly. But he did not give a fuck two ways about people he could kill if they crossed him.
"But seriously, I can’t believe people from our own academic faction almost killed us," someone from the group said.
"Grow up," another added. "This is an academy for transcendents, not a brotherhood clique. So what if we are all members of the academic faction? When benefits outweigh partnership in a secret realm, do you think people will care about such things?"
"I guess you are right?" the person who had been previously complaining sighed.
At that moment, several people appeared around them. The group felt very scared.
"Shit... how did you discover us?" the hybrid said. His face was full of terror. It was as if he felt like they were finished.
Kailen observed everything from his hidden location calmly.
The person leading the people who had just appeared, a human, laughed. "Does that matter?" he added. "I told you to not form a connection with that principle fragment. I naturally landed the killing blow for the creature. I’m the one who deserved to comprehend the profundities in it. But you had to be selfish, didn’t you?"
Several people in his clique also expressed their dissatisfaction.
"Yeah... your lackeys also betrayed the alliance and formed a connection with the other principle fragments. If you tell us the location of the place where principle fragments have naturally formed, we will let you all off."
"That’s right."
"Yeah."
The boss of the new group surrounding the old one raised his hand, gesturing for his subordinates to calm down. "They are right, you know. If you tell us the location, we will let you off."
He looked at the hybrid. The hybrid sighed in defeat. What did he have to lose? At least if he told them the location of the place, he stood a higher chance of being spared.
Seriously, why did he accidentally blabber about the fact that he had discovered a place naturally teeming with principle fragments to his girlfriend? To think she’d snitch on him and make him become a target of several people. He stared at the lady, clinging to the arm of the human. She looked at him coldly without even uttering a word to him.
He realized that at the transcendent level, love was sometimes an illusion that broke when benefits appeared. He didn’t hate her for what she had done.
"The Northern mountains from here. That’s where it is."
He left some details concerning the dangers of the place out. But Kailen, observing everything from the mountain, figured out his thoughts through emotional resonance.
"Interesting. Even if he gets killed, he left out the dangers of that place so that they will be trapped and killed when they get there," Kailen thought.
The human waved his hand as several tendrils of darkness appeared around him and turned into large balls of darkness.
The large balls of darkness shot towards the hybrid who had a glint of coldness in his eyes at the moment. The hybrid pointed his arm forward. A large sword made of flames appeared before him and shot towards the balls of darkness. It was his last-ditch attempt to survive. Although he knew there was no point putting up a fight, he could not just stand there and do nothing, right?
The large flame sword and the balls of darkness collided. The large flame sword was snuffed out by the balls of darkness. The balls of darkness continued towards the hybrid. They crushed into him with overbearing might, incinerating him into nothing as he let out dying screams.
The others in his group looked terrified. They turned around to flee.
The human took another step forward. The balls of darkness shot towards them and killed them. The sight was very chilling.
"This fellow is very strong among rank 3 novice stage transcendents," Kailen, watching everything from his location, admitted to the fact. "However, I need to get to this place before these guys get there," Kailen thought.
He activated the principle of space, about to meld with the void and disappear. However, the lady clinging to the hand of the human narrowed her eyes.
"Someone was hiding nearby. If we don’t kill him, he will have access to the location. This fellow might cause endless trouble for us later on," she said to the human.
The human did not hesitate. He appeared before Kailen at where Kailen was instantly and launched an attack towards Kailen before Kailen could meld with the void and disappear.
A glint of coldness flashed through Kailen’s eyes as the attack came down on him. "As expected, trying to leave quietly was bound to be impossible. Since that lady has the principle of space and sensed the spatial ripples here. Well, since that didn’t work out, I suppose I should deal with them and leave."
