Chapter 573 Slughorn User Manual

Chapter 569 Slughorn User Manual

Sean didn't know what the gift was either, but he was really looking forward to it.

When the two of them re-entered the Pensieve's memory, they were greeted by a bright moon.

It was the Great Hall at Hogwarts. Harry recognized the place.

Unlike the auditoriums we see today, the auditoriums I remember looked somewhat ancient.

Soon, Harry saw the younger versions of Dumbledore and Slughorn sitting in the faculty seating area.

really-

It's Hogwarts from decades ago.

The principal is Armando Dippet.

"Everyone, I have something to announce."

Unlike Dumbledore's brief remarks, Dippet was rather talkative.

But I don't really dislike it.

Because although he talks a lot, he talks very comprehensively.

He described in great detail the Hogwarts curriculum and some of the competitions for the current semester.

Very responsible.

The content they discussed was all closely related to students' lives.

He is a qualified principal.

During the speech, Harry immediately recognized Voldemort sitting below.

He was surrounded by the Slytherin members, who were the center of attention.

After the opening ceremony, Voldemort was summoned to Slughorn's office.

"Tom, you're a bright boy; few can match your talent in Potions. I hope you can come to the dinner party and chat with your friends."

This is an invitation from the "Slug Club".

To be honest, this is strange—

Harry had pondered this question while looking at his previous memories.

Voldemort did not come from a distinguished family. How did he, an orphan, come to be valued by Slughorn?

He meant—

It will take Voldemort some time to demonstrate his talents at Hogwarts.

What was Slughorn's attitude towards Voldemort before this?

Harry had seen firsthand how Slughorn treated ordinary classmates:

Polite, but maintaining distance.

How will Voldemort react to Slughorn's invitation?

With these questions in mind, Harry continued reading.

"It is my great honor, Professor. I will certainly be on time."

Voldemort didn't seem excited; in fact, one could say his expression was somewhat indifferent.

Unaware of what was happening, Slughorn patted Voldemort on the shoulder like a kind grandfather.

"Great! I hope you can share some of your insights with everyone."

The scene shifts, and the banquet begins.

As soon as Voldemort entered, he presented a gift box wrapped in a bow.

Slughorn's brow furrowed almost imperceptibly.

He instinctively wanted to refuse the gift, but Voldemort had already opened the box.

"This is a potion I concocted myself, Professor."

Voldemort spoke gently and smiled slightly.

"I've always wanted to try the concoction method you taught in class, and this potion is a small tribute to you."

Inside the gift box was a bottle of magical potion radiating a golden glow. The bottle was crystal clear, and the liquid flowed slowly.

Harry recognized it immediately; it was Felix Felicis.

Slughorn was somewhat surprised.

"Oh, Tom—you're so kind." He coughed, his eyes darting back and forth between the bottle and Voldemort. "But—how could I possibly accept it?"

Voldemort smiled slightly, his expression calm.

"Professor, your guidance has always been invaluable to me. This small gift is simply to express my endless gratitude."

The students around them cast envious glances.

Slughorn was clearly very pleased with the compliment.

"Alright, Tom. Since you're going to such lengths—I'll gladly oblige."

In the time that follows.

Voldemort demonstrated his top-notch social skills.

At parties, be polite and tactful, speak wittily, participate actively but not excessively in conversations, listen attentively, and share interesting viewpoints or anecdotes when appropriate.

Over the next few weeks of gatherings, Voldemort had become one of the group.

Even other academy members of the same club.

They all showed different levels of affection for Voldemort.

What struck Harry most were the gifts Voldemort gave Slughorn: they weren't anything valuable, but they always seemed to hit Slughorn where it hurt.

For example, a box of high-quality unicorn horn powder, a small bottle of well-preserved phoenix tears, and a rare dragon liver specimen—it's hard to imagine where he got these things.

Of course, Voldemort's rhetoric also opened Harry's eyes.

"Professor, thank you for your guidance on the compound decoction. I tried it out, and this box of unicorn horn powder is a small token of my appreciation."

"I found this in Norway and thought you might be interested—"

It turns out there are so many intricacies involved in gift-giving.

For Harry—

This memory should be called "Slughorn's User Manual" rather than "Voldemort's Social Etiquette" or "Voldemort's Art of Gift Giving".

perhaps----

Could he approach it from these angles, like Voldemort did?

Like Voldemort, slowly give gifts, chat, and socialize to raise Slughorn's favorability, thereby completing the task assigned by Professor Dumbledore?
