Chapter 53 This child must not be allowed to live.
Have you heard?
"What?"
"Recently, that superpower in the north collapsed, and even the wizarding world has split into several factions, which I hear are fighting fiercely."
"I know about this; I heard that many people died there."
"..."
"..."
Sean listened to the conversation at the next table, nodding occasionally.
He was looking for opportunities to join their conversation.
"There were already few wizards there, and now there will probably be even fewer people."
"No, I know some dark wizards have already taken advantage of the chaos to go and make a fortune. Whether it's alchemical artifacts or magical creatures, they grab whatever they see. There's no order at all, so it's like paradise for them."
"I can understand alchemical tools, but why steal magical creatures? I remember that desolate place only has polar bears, right?"
"Can they really defeat a polar bear? I heard there's a grown-up wizard..."
Sean finally found his chance. "What's a polar bear? I recently got a three-headed dog. It's incredibly fierce. Let alone one adult wizard, several adult wizards wouldn't be a match for it."
Sean snorted coldly, his tone laced with disdain, much like a gambler who had just won a bet, displaying his smugness to the fullest.
When he noticed that the people at the next table were all looking at him, he continued, "Cerberus likes to eat cooked meat and is difficult to tame. It took me a lot of effort to tame this magical creature."
The fish has taken the bait.
Ever since he brought up the topic of Cerberus, he has clearly felt a subtle gaze silently watching him.
Who else could it be but Quirrell?
Afterwards, he exchanged a few more words with the people at the next table before leaving the bar.
However, after leaving the bar, he slowed down and strolled towards the village entrance, walking on the empty streets.
Quirrell was patient; Sean clearly felt him following him, yet he didn't show himself for a long time.
Compared to last time, it seems like the two sides have switched roles.
Sometimes, one can't help but marvel at the wonder of fate.
"Friend, why are you following me?"
No sooner had Sean finished speaking than Quirrell emerged from the shadows around the corner.
"Following you? Did you build this road? What a joke." Quirrell clearly recognized the man in black robes from last time, so he cleverly used the man's words to mock him.
"How do you know it wasn't my house that did the repairs?" Sean asked seriously.
Quirrell was speechless for a moment.
He didn't want to get entangled with Sean in this pointless bickering, so he changed the subject, "I'm very interested in what you were talking about at the Pighead Bar. Name your price."
"You can't afford my price." Sean pretended to look Quirrell up and down, then shook his head.
Why don't you tell me?
"I want... profound books on dark magic." As he said this, Sean licked his slightly dry lips.
"You're asking for a bit too much," Quirrell said menacingly. "Trying to trade advanced dark magic for news of a magical creature? You must be insane."
"Then you can go ask someone else," Sean chuckled. "I believe there are far fewer people who understand Cerberus than those who understand dark magic."
Sean's next words sent chills down Quirrell's spine.
"After all, to obtain the Philosopher's Stone, you always have to pay a price, don't you?"
"Who are you? How do you know about that thing?" Quirrell asked grimly, his right hand secretly resting on his wand. He swore to Merlin that no matter what answer Sean gave, he would find a way to eliminate this threat.
He had a vague feeling that the guy had ill intentions since their last meeting, and the guy's deliberate mention of Cerberus this time had already aroused his suspicion.
He originally intended to probe the matter after obtaining the intelligence, but unexpectedly, the other party directly pointed out his purpose.
This child must not be allowed to live!
Sean glanced at Quirrell's subtle movements and smiled knowingly.
"I'm just like you, a fool who failed at robbing Gringotts." Sean paused. "And besides, I don't like people pointing wands at me, if you want to die."
The existence of the Philosopher's Stone is hardly a secret; those with ulterior motives can detect its movements, so quite a few wizards have guessed that the Philosopher's Stone is at Hogwarts.
Quirrell sensed the growing aura emanating from Sean and slowly pulled his right hand out of his robe, spreading both hands to show his sincerity.
First, he still needs Sean to have information about Cerberus.
Secondly, the opponent's strength does not seem as weak as imagined. Once a fight breaks out and causes a commotion, it will be extremely disadvantageous for him.
After calmly considering the situation, Quirrell chose to feign politeness first, asking, "You came here for this too?"
"What would I do with that broken stone? To gain immortality?" Sean scoffed, saying somewhat coldly, "Don't worry, I won't fight you for that broken stone. To me, it's not as appealing as a cup of butterbeer from three brooms."
"Then what for?" Quirrell asked instinctively.
"I already said, it's for advanced black magic."
"In this world, only strength matters. What's the use of living long? A Killing Curse will still leave you lying on the ground." Sean waved his hand impatiently. "I thought that since you had the strength to break into Gringotts, you must have matching dark magic, so I asked you to make a deal. Are you going to trade or not? If not, I'm leaving."
"One last question." Quirrell frowned, his eyes fixed on Sean. Seeing Sean about to use Teleportation to leave, he quickly held out his hand to stop him. "How did you know…?"
However, Sean interrupted him.
Sean raised an eyebrow, looked directly into Quirrell's eyes, and said with an undeniable determination, "I'll ask you one last time, are you going to switch or not?"
"Exchange," Quirrell said decisively. "Where will we trade?"
"The Forbidden Forest next week." Sean's tone was flat as he casually rattled off a series of book titles: "The Most Poisonous Magic," "The Secrets of Cutting-Edge Black Magic," and "An Advanced Guide to Black Magic." I need to see at least these three books. If there are any other books about black magic, I can tell you an extra piece of information about the Philosopher's Stone.
Quirrell's doubts weren't completely dispelled. He frowned, trying to find more information to verify Sean's credibility. "How can I be sure you're telling the truth?"
Sean chuckled softly, a sly look on his face. "You can only trust me now, can you?"
As soon as he finished speaking, he waved his wand, and a skull symbol with a snake emerging from its mouth was inadvertently revealed on his arm.
Then, with a flash of light, Sean's figure vanished into thin air, leaving Quirrell standing there, his face full of astonishment.
