Chapter 334 The Wrath of the Werewolf

Chapter 334 The Wrath of the Werewolf

Chapter 334 The Wrath of the Werewolf

In a secluded corner deep within a castle, a heavy wooden door was slightly ajar, and the wind howled through the crack, bringing a chilling, biting cold.

Inside the door was a simply decorated room, with several old wooden tables and dusty bookshelves around it, making it look dilapidated and desolate.

Flames leaped from the fireplace, illuminating the dark corners of the room, occasionally crackling and popping.

In the center of the room sat a tall, fierce-looking man.

He had a head of messy gray hair and a thick beard, making him look as ferocious as a wild beast.

The man was none other than the infamous wolf king, Fenrir Greyback.

"Those guys at the British Ministry of Magic have gotten quite bold lately, daring to introduce this anti-werewolf bill," Graybury sneered, his voice low and hoarse, like claws scraping against a stone wall, filled with undisguised hatred. "Do they really think this little bill can suppress us?"

The firelight cast flickering shadows on his sinister face, highlighting his bloodthirsty eyes, making them appear particularly eerie.

Upon hearing Graybury mention the "anti-werewolf Act," several of his men standing below trembled.

"This bill—" the subordinate whispered, "they say it's to control the werewolf population and prevent us from causing trouble in human society—but we all know it's just a method their wizards use to suppress us."

Greyback sneered, his knuckles white as he gripped the armrests of his chair. "Control? The bureaucrats of the Ministry of Magic aren't afraid of us causing trouble, but of us wielding too much power. They fear that one day, werewolves will no longer be beasts they can easily control, but enemies they can fight against."

He slammed his hand on the armrest of the chair, which creaked loudly. A silence fell over the room, the only background noise being the crackling of firewood in the fire.

"This bill is just the beginning," Graybury sneered. "They want to weaken us this way, leaving us no chance to fight back. But let me tell you—weren't they give in so easily?"

The subordinate cautiously replied, "Boss, this law has already been implemented in many places. The Ministry of Magic has also sent people to monitor our actions, and many werewolves have even been forced to flee their homes because of it."

"Escape?" Greyback scoffed. "Only cowards run away. We don't need to run; we'll fight back! I'll show the Ministry of Magic that their anti-werewolf laws are a joke."

Just then, a series of hurried footsteps came from the doorway, and then a werewolf rushed in in a panic, his face ashen. He was panting heavily and stood in front of Greyback.

"Boss—" he gasped, his voice filled with undisguised fear, "In the Forbidden Forest—we encountered a—a strange wizard in the Forbidden Forest...he—he has no nose!"

"Brad, what do you mean no nose? Explain yourself clearly," a man standing nearby interjected, reprimanding Graybury.

So the werewolf named Brad swallowed hard and, trembling, recounted his experiences in the Forbidden Forest in detail.

A moment later, after listening to Brad's account, Graybury suddenly stood up.

"Did he really say that?"

Brad trembled and stood in front of him, too afraid to move, only nodding timidly.

The memory of being cursed with the Cruciatus Curse was still vivid in his mind, and the pain was colliding with every bone in his body.

He swallowed hard and added in a low voice, "Yes... he let me off the hook, but he said... he will never let you go unless you apologize in person..."

,

Greyback sneered, revealing his sharp teeth. "Apologize? Me, apologize to him personally? Does he really think he's someone important? Where did this guy even come from?"

Brad trembled and dared not say another word.

In fact, Greyback had already come into contact with Voldemort during the First Wizarding War.

At the time, the Death Eaters were recruiting dark creatures to help them overthrow the Ministry of Magic, among them was Fenrir Greyback. However, his reason for joining the Death Eaters was not because he was willing to believe Voldemort's promises, but because allying with the Death Eaters would make it easier for him to reach potential victims, thereby infecting them and expanding his werewolf power.

Although people at the time believed that Greyback was a Death Eater, he really wasn't—he never had the Dark Mark tattooed on his arm.

Even Voldemort's closest followers were unwilling to have any interaction with him outside of work, because Voldemort harbored prejudice against his ruthless nature.

After all, in Voldemort's eyes, half-breeds and Mudbloods were not worthy of respect, let alone a creature whose race was about to be stripped of its "human" attributes.

Although Greyback served the Death Eaters, they were more often used by Voldemort as tools—using the infamous werewolves to threaten the wizarding populace into obeying his orders, and sending werewolves to infect their children if they disobeyed.

Although this move sounds absurd, it is surprisingly effective, even slightly surpassing the threat of the Cruciatus Curse and the Killing Curse.

Some wizards, though tough as nails, are not afraid of Voldemort's torment, but they are afraid that Voldemort will harm their children, that is, infect them and turn them into werewolves.

Isn't that strange?

But for families in Europe, especially those that value bloodlines, this is worse than being killed.

Becoming a werewolf brings shame to the entire family, and the next generation will suffer discrimination in society—this is also related to the attitude and policies of the Ministry of Magic and wizarding society towards werewolves.

Wizarding communities generally feel fear and revulsion toward werewolves.

People believe that even if werewolves can transform into humans, they will still pose a danger. As a result, it is not uncommon for werewolves to be ostracized and discriminated against by society.

The Ministry of Magic has also tried to regulate ruthless individuals, but with little effect.

For many years, werewolves have been assigned to the Beasts and Creatures Division of the Department of Magical Creature Management and Control. Note that these are two separate divisions.

The Werewolf Registry and the Werewolf Capture Team were once under the Beast Division, while the Werewolf Support Service was under the Biology Division.

This means that even the Ministry of Magic does not have a unified standard for how to treat werewolves.

On the one hand, they claim to provide support for those infected and turned into werewolves, while on the other hand, they set up a werewolf registry and a werewolf capture team, contradicting themselves. Moreover, the establishment of the werewolf registry was practically a formality, because no one was willing to go to the Ministry of Magic and admit that they were werewolves.

This sounds ridiculous, but it's exactly what the British Ministry of Magic has always done.

For this reason, the relationship between werewolves and the Ministry of Magic, and even the entire wizarding society, is very tense.

This is also why a large portion of the werewolf pack joins Greyback's team—the wizarding society doesn't accept them, and they can't even find a decent job to make a living. In order to survive and continue their lives in this filthy world, they have no choice but to rely on Greyback.

This tense atmosphere reached its peak six months ago.

The root of the problem lies with a figure no one would expect—Umbridge.

Dolores Umbridge, the Deputy Minister of Magic who has always been prejudiced against and hateful of werewolves, passed a restrictive anti-werewolf bill.

This bill made it even harder for werewolves, who were already in dire straits, to find work, which indirectly led to more and more ruthless individuals joining Greyback's ranks.

In just six months, Graybury's power grew exponentially.

The reason why Umbridge passed this anti-ruthless law is also inextricably linked to Sean.

More accurately, it was the British Wizarding Information Database promoted by Sean.

The establishment of this comprehensive wizard database helped Umbridge to sort out information about British wizards. In addition to being used to find dark wizards, it was also a very effective means of identifying those werewolves hiding underground.

As a result, with the help of the artifact "Wizard's Comprehensive Information Database", Umbridge's confidence soared, and she believed that she could capture the vicious race of "werewolfs" and thus established the "Anti-Werewolf Act".

As a result, Graybury's power expanded rapidly, and his confidence soared.

It's hard to imagine that the implementation of a bill could cause the leaders of both sides to simultaneously "explode with confidence," creating an unbelievable win-win situation.

Umbridge gained public support and votes from the wizarding community, and Brad gained followers.

If a bill benefits both sides, then who benefits?

The results are obvious.

However, the now overconfident Graybury had no idea what kind of troublemaker Brad had gotten into for him.

Right now, he just feels very angry.

He felt offended.

So he turned to the people below the stage and ordered, "That wizard arrogantly asked me to come over... Since he's so bold, I'll grant his wish and personally go over to show him what true werewolf wrath is!"
