Diagon Alley—
Diagon Alley 1—
"Diagon Alley—Sean couldn't possibly make Harry read it a hundred times. There's a wild Lucius waiting for him at Borgin Burke's shop. How could he possibly waste so much time on Harry?"
So when Harry had read it more than fifty times, he "mercifully" let Harry go.
Harry looked at the serious-looking Sean, hurriedly reached out and took a pinch of Floo Powder, walked to the fire, and sprinkled the Floo Powder into the flames.
Under Sean's gaze, he shuddered, and his mouth, almost forming muscle memory, blurted out, "Diagon Alley—"
Sean nodded in satisfaction as he watched Harry disappear.
If he didn't mishear.
Harry has gone where he was supposed to go.
Sean gently scooped a handful of Floo Powder from the flowerpot, sprinkled it onto the flames, and then, in the eerie green light, bowed gracefully to the empty room. "Knockover Alley."
Meanwhile, Lucius strolled leisurely through the doors of Borgin Burke's shop, his gaze lazily sweeping over the displayed items. He casually rang the bell on the counter, then turned to his son Draco and solemnly instructed, "Don't touch anything here."
Draco, about to reach out and touch the glass eyeball, said with a hint of anticipation, "I thought you'd buy me a present here."
Lucius tapped the counter lightly with his fingers and replied, "I was planning to buy you a flying broomstick for a competition."
Draco turned his head away, somewhat annoyed. "What use would a flying broomstick be to me if I weren't on the House team?"
He retorted angrily, "Look, Harry Potter got a Nimbus 2000 last year, and Dumbledore even gave him permission to represent Gryffindor in the competition. He doesn't deserve that honor at all; he's only slightly famous because of that stupid scar on his head."
As he spoke, Draco bent down and carefully examined the entire shelf of skulls.
He continued to complain, "Everyone thinks he's amazing, just because of the scar on his forehead and that flying broomstick—"
Lucius interrupted his son, "You've said these things to me at least ten times. I'm reminding you that it's unwise to show disdain for Harry Potter when most people see him as the hero who defeated the Dark Lord."
"Ah, Mr. Borkin, you've arrived."
A hunched-over man emerged from behind the counter, his greasy hair brushed back with his hand.
"It's a pleasure to see you again, Mr. Malfoy," Mr. Borgin said in a smooth-talking manner. "It's an honor to serve you, and to you, young Master Malfoy, welcome. Is there anything I can do for you? I just received a new shipment today, at very reasonable prices—"
“I’m not here to buy anything today, Mr. Borgin,” Lucius interrupted him. “I’m here to sell something.”
Mr. Bokin's smile faded slightly. "Selling things?"
"As you've probably heard, the department has been intensifying its searches lately," Lucius said, pulling a roll of parchment from his inside pocket and showing it to Mr. Borgin. "I have some things in my house that might cause me trouble if the department comes knocking—."
Mr. Bokin put on his pince-nez glasses and looked down at the list.
"However, I hope the ministry won't bother you, sir?"
Lucius curled his lip. "Not yet. The name Malfoy still carries some weight, but the ministry is getting increasingly nosy. I heard they're drafting a new Muggle Protection Act—I bet it's Arthur Weasley's idea, he loves Muggles the most—"
Lucius continued, "—you understand, some of the poisons on this list can be disguised as—"
“I understand completely, sir,” Mr. Bokin replied. “Let me see—”
At that moment, Draco pointed to a withered human hand on the cushion and asked, "May I see that?"
"Oh my, this is the Hand of Glory!" Mr. Borgin exclaimed excitedly. He put down Mr. Malfoy's list and strode over to Draco to show it off. "As long as a candle is placed in it, only the person holding the hand can see the light! This is a great help to thieves and robbers! Young Master Malfoy has a good eye."
Lucius scoffed, "I don't want my son to end up as a thief or robber, Bokin."
"I'm very sorry, sir, I had no such intention—" Mr. Bokin hurriedly explained.
"However, if his studies don't improve," Lucius said coldly, "perhaps that's the only path he can take."
Draco retorted indignantly, "It's not my fault. Apart from Professor Snape and Professor Sean, almost all the professors favored Hermione Granger—"
"A girl from a non-wizard family always outperforms you in exams; you should be ashamed," Lucius reprimanded sternly.
Mr. Bogin began his slick, oily tone again: "It's like this everywhere now; wizard blood is becoming less and less valuable."
"I don't think so," Lucius said, snorting heavily.
"I don't think so either, sir," Mr. Bokin said with a deep bow.
"Alright, let's get back to my list." Lucius sounded a little impatient. "I have important things to do today, and time is of the essence."
They started bargaining.
"Goodbye, Mr. Borgin. Wait for me at home tomorrow; I'll deliver the goods." Lucius finished speaking.
He then left the shop with Draco.
As soon as the door closed, Mr. Borgin's fawning smile vanished. "Goodbye, Mr. Malfoy," he muttered to himself, "If the rumors in your household are true, what you sold me is probably less than half of what you've been hoarding."
"Mr. Bokin, congratulations on closing another big deal." A hoarse voice suddenly came from a corner of Bokin's store.
Mr. Bokin was startled and quickly turned around, trying to find the source of the sound. The corner of the shop was dark and deep, and for a moment he couldn't see what was hidden there.
"Who's there?" Mr. Bokin asked sharply.
A commotion came from the corner, and then a figure slowly emerged from the shadows. He was dressed in a black robe, with only his dark eyes and slender, white hands exposed.
Yes, he was gently clapping his hands in approval of Mr. Bokin's shrewdness.
This person was Sean.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?" As he spoke, Mr. Borgin had already raised his wand, aiming it at the uninvited guest.
"Don't get excited, Mr. Bokin. I bought a lot of potion ingredients from you a while ago. Come to think of it, I'm one of your biggest customers," Sean said calmly.
"It's you?" Upon hearing Sean's words, Mr. Borgin frowned and carefully examined the man in black before him. "What are you trying to do, lurking around there?" Mr. Borgin sneered. Although he had put down his wand, he remained vigilant.
Sean smiled slightly, not directly answering his question, "I just heard that you completed a major deal with the Malfoy family..."
"So—" Sean trailed off, pausing for a moment, "how about selling it to me, or, I can pick it up for you tomorrow?"
"I'm sorry, but I have to refuse..." Mr. Bokin said warily.
Before he could finish speaking, he saw the man in black robes staring at him silently. He suddenly felt dizzy and his eyes became slightly unfocused.
Oh no, it's a confusion spell.
This state lasted for less than a second before the sound of breaking glass came from Mr. Bokin's body, and his bewildered expression vanished.
Once he realized what was happening, Mr. Borgin immediately pulled out his wand and aimed it at Sean. Just as he was about to cast a spell, Sean raised his arm and smiled.
"The soul leaves the body!"
A powerful surge of magic erupted from Sean's fingertips, directly confronting Mr. Borgin.
Mr. Bokin frantically tried to defend himself, and two more sounds of shattering glass came from his body.
"Oh?" This situation surprised Sean somewhat, but only "somewhat". The reason why Mr. Bokin has been able to keep his shop in a place like Knockturn Alley for so long and survive until now is because of his relatively good magical skills and the endless stream of strange items he has.
But... he hadn't expected Mr. Borgin to be able to withstand his Imperius Curse so easily.
After constantly consuming potions, his strength was now almost on par with Snape's, and he might even be slightly stronger.
In the entire wizarding world, ranking in the top ten, if not the top five, shouldn't be too difficult.
Therefore, it's clear that the protective alchemical prop Mr. Borgin is wearing looks quite interesting.
"You've got some skills," Sean chuckled.
He didn't continue his attack but instead began negotiating, hoping to resolve the matter easily and avoid attracting attention, or even arousing Lucius's suspicion.
"If you have a lot of these 'strange little gadgets' on you, you can give it a try with me," Sean earnestly advised. "If you don't have many of these items, I suggest you accept my suggestion."
"If you let me walk out of here, you know what trouble you'll face in the days to come." As he spoke, Sean sighed softly and looked around the shop, as if he were feeling sorry for Mr. Bokin.
Mr. Bokin hesitated.
He has really started to consider the feasibility of this.
First of all, he understood that his strength was far from being a match for the black-robed man in front of him. Just the way he cast spells silently and without weapons was something he would need to learn for a while longer.
Moreover, as the man in the black robe said, it seemed he couldn't be stopped. If an agreement wasn't reached today, who knew what would happen in the days to come?
What pained him most were the protective crystals in his pocket. He had bought them at a high price from a black wizard in North America, and they could save his life in a critical moment. There weren't many in total, but he had used up three of them today.
madman...!
What a madman!
Mr. Bokin cursed inwardly.
He merely refused, but the other party didn't even try to negotiate; instead, they immediately took action, completely defying common sense!
Such a decisive, ruthless, and highly skilled dark wizard was a rare sight in his entire business career, except for that one person:
"What should I do?" Mr. Bokin gritted his teeth and slowly asked.
After weighing the pros and cons in his mind, he chose to compromise without hesitation.
Lucius was going to sell those props to someone else anyway, and having this man in black pick them up directly saved him a lot of trouble... It's just that Lucius might be in trouble, but it's none of his business anyway—he planned to close the shop for a month starting tomorrow to avoid any potential trouble in the future and to avoid the Ministry of Magic's search.
We'll resume business once things calm down.
Sean smiled with satisfaction. "I want your hair to make a compound decoction..."
